Job Description

You will:

  • Perform processing, testing and characterization of metallic materials and coatings solutions.
  • Identify key technical issues, develop new processes and iteratively improve system performance through experimentation and process optimization with assistance from scientists and engineers
  • Independently own and operate various pieces of laboratory equipment, investigate novel material components and integrated material systems, and utilize basic analytical methods.
  • Be responsible for the safe and compliant use/operation and disposal of hazardous chemicals and materials
  • Build relationships with colleagues at GE Aerospace Research with a wide variety of technical expertise and business responsibilities.
  • Be a member of a multidisciplinary team developing metallic materials and coating solutions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Material Science & Engineering or related discipline.
  • Prior experience with materials processing, testing and characterization.
  • Prior laboratory experience with materials evaluations and characterization.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new areas of research
  • Ability to work with diverse, high-paced teams
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY..

Desired Characteristics

  • Hands-on metallography experience.
  • Hands-on experience in metal powder handling, corrosion testing of metallic systems, materials testing and characterization.

The base pay range for this position is 60,000 - 110,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary. This posting is expected to close on June 10, 2025
