The Auburn NDE System Engineer will require understanding of NDT technical concepts, language, methods, and procedures to support our customers BLADES & Additive.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities:
- NDT system components management:
- Interaction with component supplier regarding management of:
- Detectors life management
- Software License management
- Data management
- Metrology data creation and management
- Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, configuration files, image processing techniques specific to modality, and will include understanding the non-destructive testing process
- Validate design specifications for shop floor applications of processing hardware configurations
- Resolve problems through the application of acquired expertise guided by precedent, Lead Process engineers, Lean Lab Imaging team, Responsible Level 3, and Certifying Agent
- Own documentation and explanation of technical issues
- Communicate directly to team and Lead personnel
- Present to internal teams on metrics, project status and research
- Support shop floor to deliver business results while encouraging input from area personnel working within a self-directed workforce (Teaming) environment
- Participate in the development of mid- and long-term plans outlining projects to support the business in meeting its objectives with a strong focus on part quality, cycle time, and cost
- Design and implement post processes and systems for control of data retention
- Promote internal and external customer satisfaction and develop positive relationships
- Plan and implement NDE Process activities for new product development and current product support
- Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method of manufacture
- Investigate and apply new technology in support of site growth plans
- Assist Team Leaders and production employees in resolving manufacturing process problems through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action
- Pursue continuous improvement for quality and cost reductions in designated area to achieve quarterly and annual business unit goals
- Act as change agent, understanding and assisting the operation toward best-in-class performance with inspection sequencing Qualifications / Requirements
- Define and control Assisted Defect Recognition (ADR) processes including revision control and documentation
- Work with NDE personnel for ADR development, and Design team to implement and support new components as they come online with ADR, supporting both the BLADES and Additive platforms.
- Manage the documentation and dissemination of issues/status of the NDT and ADR systems
- Make sure all components are documented, and documentation exists to be able to set up the NDT and ADR systems from the ground floor with all prior learnings integrated
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of information technology and programming experience)
- At least an additional 3 years of information technology and programming experience
Desired Characteristics
- Software developer with 1+ years’ experience architecting heterogeneous software solutions involving C++. Experience with Tcl, Python, QT, windows PowerShell or applications that handle large amounts of data
- Some software education may require travel to other GE Aviation facilities, and customer service centers.
- Previous NDE experience
- Previous aerospace product experience in manufacturing
- Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes
- Experience making data driven decisions and utilizing Six Sigma and Lean tools
- Knowledge of safety agency regulations
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and bring to successful results
- Knowledge of ISO / quality procedures
- Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) programing experience
