Collins Aerospace’s Strategic Solutions team is looking for an exceptionally motivated engineer that is passionate about collaborating with High-Performance Teams to create mission critical solutions supporting Mission Systems.
Our Senior Principal Software Engineers work in an exciting, adaptive, and engaging environment enabling rapid learning to drive success. Our Senior Principal Software Engineers utilize a variety of skills on a regular basis including requirements analysis, synthesis of new and existing architectures, UML and SysML diagrams along with development and delivery of high-quality mission critical software. Our Senior Principal Engineers are set to define and design complex software architecture solutions to solve the most difficult problems in Mission Systems. Our Senior Principal Software Engineers act as Subject Matter Experts for the software discipline, mentoring and guiding this team towards success. This position will support the shaping of the future of NC3 defense systems for the armed forces. This position is located onsite in Richardson, TX.
You will team up with a high-performance software team, collaborating with fellow Software engineer, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Software Architects and other teams.
You will have the opportunity to serve as a Subject Matter Expert within the Software discipline and team.
You will collaborate with fellow Sr. Principal Engineers on the design definitions required to deliver complex software components supporting Mission Systems.
You will support requirements decomposition and derivation to produce Software Requirements.
You will be responsible for producing high quality mission critical software.
You will have the opportunity to mentor senior engineers, junior engineers and interns.
You will be responsible for providing direct support to stakeholders to answer questions and solve technical issues.
You will support bid proposals, providing technical expertise and support with estimates.
You will have the opportunity to participate in customer interactions.
You will have the opportunity to learn and grow knowledge within the Strategic Nuclear Deterrence domains & gain niche skills enabling you to be unique in all you do.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience.
7+ years of experience with Object Oriented Development using Java with the ability to create complex software designs based on customer’s requirements.
Prior experience with CI/CD.
Prior experience designing distributed software using microservices technology.
Previous experience designing software for Mission Critical Systems in the defense industry.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance.
Experience with requirements analysis and requirements decomposition and derivation.
Experience with UML, SysML, MBSE and CAMEO Modeling tools.
Experience with virtualization.
Knowledge of microservices, containers and orchestrators.
Knowledge in OMS.
Experience with Jira.
Experience with Version control systems (Git, GitLab).
Experience with pub/subs bus such as ActiveMQ, DDS.
Experience with Agile SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
Experience with Software Development for DoD contracts.
Implemented Graphical User Interfaces with Java frameworks, such as Swing or JavaFx.
Experience as a Software Architect developing distributed software systems.
Experience supporting bid proposals for DoD contracts.
Experience with parametric estimation tools for software development effort.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
