Location: Rome, New York Industry: Aviation / Defense Job Type: Short-Term Contract (2–3 Months) Shifts: Full-Time, On-Site Benefits: Lodging, Meals & Transportation Provided STS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Structures / Sheetmetal Mechanics in Rome, New York, to support short-term maintenance and structural repair work on a 1959 C-130 B Model aircraft. This is an ideal opportunity for highly skilled professionals with direct C-130 sheetmetal experience—particularly those familiar with legacy models. Job Summary In this role, you will be responsible for performing hands-on structural repairs and modifications on a historic B Model C-130 aircraft. You’ll work on a dedicated team of experienced mechanics to maintain FAA and military compliance while contributing to an important aviation restoration and repair project. Job Duties

Perform aircraft sheetmetal repairs and modifications following FAA and military specifications
Remove, fabricate, install, and inspect metal components and structural assemblies
Use technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings to complete repairs
Operate sheetmetal tools and equipment including rivet guns, shears, and drills
Accurately document all completed work in accordance with regulatory standards
Ensure compliance with safety procedures and quality assurance guidelines
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely, high-quality project completion

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of aircraft sheetmetal/structures experience
Direct experience with C-130 aircraft strongly preferred (B Model a plus)
Familiarity with government, military, or defense maintenance protocols
Must be eligible for work in a DOT-regulated position
Willingness to travel and commit to a 2–3 month assignment
