This role is responsible for directly managing the Central Configuration Control group and their activities, functionally managing Configuration Control Specialists on Business Units and Product Lines on the SA Menu ERP system, managing the development, set-up, maintenance, implementation and training of new and existing technical Configuration Control and related Business Information systems and procedures, and providing support to all Business Units and Functional Groups on Configuration Control and related issues. The goal is to ensure consistent implementation of configuration control systems and procedures throughout the company with a focus on system and process upgrades to improve efficiency, quality and functionality.
Responsibilities
- Manage Central Configuration Control personnel and activities exercising authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
- Manage, at a functional level, Configuration Control personnel across Business Units to ensure the development and maintenance of appropriate skills, uniform standards and implementation of common configuration control solutions.
- Manage the set-up and implementation of technical configuration control and related systems for new products and processes; manage maintenance and data integrity of technical configuration control and related systems data.
- Act as a focal point for communications on new and existing technical configuration control and related applications, systems or procedures and provide guidance and solutions for business units and functional groups on configuration control and business process issues.
- Identify and drive Configuration Control continuous improvement opportunities in the business unit, functional group and globally through reviews and assessments of current business applications, processes, procedures, data audits and systems to improve production efficiencies, work flow or quality.
- Liaise with Central IT, business units and functional groups to lead or support the development, acceptance testing and implementation of new technical solutions and enhancements, detailed systems designs and business processes, ensuring accordance with specifications and end user requirements, data integrity and security and the generation or update of all supporting literature, governing documents and training materials.
- Manage multiple Engineering Specification, Standards and Handbook subscriptions/contracts and administration for various sites to ensure cost effective procurement and efficient delivery to meet functional needs, addressing unique requirements with custom solutions.
- Manage local and global governing documentation delivery and administration through the approved corporate structure and across the organization to ensure documents are identified consistently, maintained appropriately and easily found and accessed by the entire employee population as required.
- Manage local administration of all Business Unit and Functional Group records archiving activities providing support, training and oversight to administrators to ensure efficient and accurate archiving and destruction of all new and existing records.
- Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of company business processes and systems and acts as an expert resource in support of all Configuration Control systems, processes and data sets to support the needs of Business Units and Functional Groups, including IT, to ensure the appropriate actions, system design, processes and data analysis, etc. are implemented as part of any improvement, modification or troubleshooting for systems or processes part of, related to or interfacing with Configuration Control systems and data.
- Holds access approval authority for all employees requiring Configuration Control related SA Menu application objects and groups, Qualifications and drive share access. Submits and approves IT access requests; initiates, maintains and approves qualifications; investigates and determines suitable and appropriate access requirements for the intended functionality requested and relevance to the job as required.
- Manages or supports annual budgeting, procurements and other expenses for the Central Configuration Control team and it’s responsibilities in collaboration with senior management.
- Develops and maintains reporting functions for team, Functional Group and Business Unit processes as required or requested to support Quality requirements/initiatives and leadership oversight.
- Manage or participate in strategic projects as required
Background
- The typical level of education or related experience to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a high school graduation and a university (bachelor) program or college diploma in a specialized field of study and work.
- Directly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is typically three to six years.
Qualifications
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of production management computer systems and software in the current company operating system environment.
- Proficient in MS Office application environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Thorough understanding of technical configuration control data requirements to support and maintain related business systems.
- Familiarity with Business Unit products and supporting technical publications.
- Experience in systems analysis or business applications development.
- Thorough knowledge of governing documentation, company processes and quality manuals.
- Strong project management skills.
- Travel 16 (approximately 6X a year) to various locations
