Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.Reporting to the Director, Commercial Data Intelligence, the Manager, Commercial Data Insights will provide key strategic, business, and technical recommendations and support to Revenue Management, Sales, Network Planning and Alliances as well as other branches of the company. The incumbent will be a subject matter expert of one or more commercial data domains and will monitor and enforce Commercial data availability, quality and best practices by the streamlining and centralization of data requirements gathering across commercial business units. The Manager, Commercial Data Insights will be the key liaison between Commercial business teams and corporate IT and will provide support to various Commercial business intelligence and analytics teams in order to ensure reports, analyses and extracts are consistent and accurate. This role will include supervision and mentorship of one or more commercial data insights analysts.
Responsibilities:Subject matter expert (SME) of one or more Commercial data domains. Thorough understanding of Commercial travel industry data and how operating procedures produce and impact commercial data assets. Works very closely with all Commercial Business Intelligence and analytics teams as well as key data stakeholders and answers complex commercial data questions from within the commercial branch as well as from other areas of the business.Provides leadership and is the key liaison with corporate IT in the development of current or future state, commercial data products/technologies and monitors the data delivery roadmap.Oversees validation of commercial data when implementing new systems as well as changes to steady state data assets.Proactively anticipates future potential data related issues and suggest ways to mitigate or eliminate risk.Performs data discovery activities to drive performance improvements for data assets and to explore and prepare new data assets for reporting.Actively works to decommission older data assets and works with business stakeholders to help them migrate to new and improved data assets.Monitors data availability and accuracy and ensures proper implementation of strategies related to data quality, integration and usage.Manages and works with corporate IT to solution responses to data integrity and completeness issues and communicates data issues to key business stakeholders.Oversees and approves commercial data documentation.Oversees and approves data access and privacy protection.Represents the commercial data team when there are major projects throughout the enterprise as well as when changes are required for steady state data sets.Works with business intelligence teams and developers to define and prototype new data sets and derived and merged data and provides specifications to IT for productionalization of new data assets if required by other teams in the business.Responsible for change management with respect to rolling out changes to existing data assets.Provides training / overview of Commercial data to new team members.Oversees the development of SQL and scripts to aggregate data for the purpose of reporting or to feed applications with Commercial data.Manages a team of Commercial Data Insight Analysts.
QualificationsUniversity degree in related field (Mathematics, Statistics, BI, Operations Research, Computer science) or 5+ years of pertinent experience in a similar position.Excellent knowledge of SQL is a pre-requisiteKnowledge of Snowflake DB is an assetExperience working with large and diverse data sets is a strong assetKnowledge of airline industry data is a strong assetDemonstrated project management skillsAbility to understand and relate required analysis to business implicationsCreative thinking and excellent problem solving skillsExcellent communication and leadership skills and able to bridge business procedures and requirements with technical IT requirementsProven organizational skills and ability to multi-task.Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and ability to take initiativeExperience managing a team of one or more direct reports is a strong asset
