Manager, Flight Crew Support Planning
Job Description:

Purpose: The Manager, Flight Crew Support Planning will be responsible for supporting Avelo’s Flight Crew Support and Network Planning Teams by collaborating on proposed and operating flight schedules, developing crew pairings to efficiently operate the planned flight schedules, managing the integration of training and checking events, and working closely with Flight Operations, In-Flight Operations, and Network Planning to develop a crew staffing forecast to guide growth. The role is expected to act as a strategic innovator and liaison between Operational Control and the Network Planning teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all planned crew schedules meet regulatory requirements and Avelo internal requirements, guided by our Safety Always value
  • Review pairing efficiency from previous schedules, determine the root cause of pairing breakage, and propose solutions to Network Planning and FCS leadership
  • Evaluate future schedules and determine appropriate staffing levels for each base for a rolling twelve-month period
  • Review the proposed training plan for Flight Operations and In-Flight Operations and incorporate these needs into staffing plans
  • Review planned absences for Flight Operations and In-Flight Operations and incorporate these needs into staffing plans
  • Develop pairings to efficiently staff the operating flight schedule on a monthly basis, including developing crew bid lines as required.
  • Ensure the on-time publication of crew bid lines and pairings each month, managing the appropriate computer systems to perform these tasks
  • Audit and assist the FCS team in the development of crew OE events, training events, and checking events
  • Drive for improvements by evaluating crew schedule outcomes versus the crew schedule plan, asking questions of both the Operational and Network Teams to determine acceptable economic solutions while maintained full compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in airline planning/crew support/scheduling or related experience with at least 1 year in a leadership position.
  • Knowledge of Part 117/Part 121 regulations, airline economics and analysis.
  • Must have exceptional analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to deliver arguments clearly and confidently.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in the fast-paced Avelo Airlines Support Center.
  • Experience in basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and OneNote, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Able to understand, speak, read, and write English fluently

May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, etc).
