Responsible for overseeing all avionics maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities within the MRO facility. This role ensures that all avionics systems work meets regulatory compliance, safety standards, and customer expectations. The manager leads a team of avionics technicians and coordinates with all other departments, and plays a key role in workflow optimization, quality control, and process improvement.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the avionics shop, including repair, testing, modification, and installation of all avionics systems.
- Plan and prioritize work to ensure all projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- Ensure compliance with FAA/EASA/CAA regulations, OEM requirements, and company procedures.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate avionics technicians and support staff.
- Review and interpret technical data, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, and manufacturer manuals.
- Work closely with Engineering, Planning, and Quality departments to resolve technical issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inventory control.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase reliability.
- Participate in audits and ensure readiness for regulatory inspections.
- Monitor KPIs related to turnaround time (TAT), first-time pass rate, and productivity.
- Manage tooling and equipment calibration and maintenance related to avionics work.
- Support quoting, planning, capacity and all other customer service activities as needed.

Education & Experience:
- Minimum 10 years avionics experience
- 5+ years in general aviation avionics supervisor/management environment or related aviation experience
- Two or four-year college degree in business or related field preferred.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must possess strong written and verbal skills
- Possess exceptional internal and external customer service skills
- Must possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license
- Meet the requirements of Airport Authority to receive a badge and have no ramp restrictions
Communication Skills:
- Must be able to read and speak English.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other personnel.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent for calculations of profit/loss.
- Ability to understand departmental financial statements.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Budget Responsibility:
- Ability to maintain a specified budget for assigned department.
Computer Skills:
- Knowledge of MS office applications including word, excel, access, and Microsoft outlook.
