As a Unit Manager, reporting to the Manager, Area Control Centre Operations, your primary responsibility isn’t just overseeing operations—it’s leading people. In this role you will:

  • Ensure the safety, service, and quality of ACC services delegated within your scope of responsibility in collaboration with supervisors and Managers, ATS Quality Standards (MAQS).
  • Be responsible for leading a team including hiring, coaching, mentoring, and developing a high performing and highly engaged team.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to address deficiencies in accordance with the Safety Management System (SMS) program and identify trends to improve safety and service.
  • Ensure OI investigations are completed and collaborate with all stakeholders involved.
  • Ensure operation practices comply with the Fatigue Risk Management Program.
  • Be responsible for planning, training, and managing both the Emergency Response and Business Continuity Planning.
  • Support Air Traffic Services (ATS) Standards by ensuring staff meet all licensing, medical, and proficiency requirements required for their positions.
  • Act as local point of contact for NAV CANADA for identified operational issues.
  • Develop and manage budgetary plans and forecasts based on operational requirements and priorities.

What you bring:

Education:

  • Successful completion of secondary school

Experience:

  • 3 years of leadership experience managing a diverse team.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Air Navigation System and Air Traffic Management.
  • Ability to foster a climate conducive to an engaged workforce by promoting company values of respect, excellence, and service.
  • Demonstrated ability of strong time management and judgement to prioritize multiple tasks of varying urgency.
  • Ability to manage large, complex initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is on site and not eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
  • Occasional travel required.
