Autoclave Operator
To work as part of a wider composite production team working in a controlled environment with materials such as carbon and glass fibre, honeycomb and adhesive materials.

Job description:
- Carry out responsibilities on employee outlined in the company’s health and safety policy. Adhering to specific safety measures IE PPE Lifting and handling to maintain a safe working environment for self and others
- Provide excellent quality products and superior service to your stakeholders, both internal and external, by ensuring quality control and Product Safety in all activities,
- Maintain and work rigorously to Safran policies and procedures continually improving and streamline
- Precure checks to ensure conformity of parts prior to curing. (i.e. bagging Vac points leak check)
- Precure cheques of the autoclave oven machine and system equipment, loading and unloading of autoclaves and ovens.
- Ensuring safety of people, product and processes ensuring correct loading of autoclave oven cure programmes prior to cure commencement
- Monitor cures to ensure conformity and carry out corrective action when issues occur.
- Fault finding (pre-cure checks, TMP of auto claim and tools)
- Thermocouple investigation
- Cheque operations of internal thermocouple, extension thermocouple, or tool thermocouple and carry out repairs or replacement as necessary
- Check operation of vacuum, maintenance, repair and replace vacuum lines
- Manufacturer and fit new vacuum pipes as required
- Support the quality and scheduling process by ensuring adequate product protection throughout the curing process and preparation for downstream processing (material handling & storage)
- Inventory management (parts and materials)
- Validate all tools and means production have valid maintenance and calibration status
- Notify autoclave leadership team od any issues identified with tooling maintenance/ availability
- Liaises and raise IW21 with WED when machines malfunction
- Strip and drill parts
- Make up new thermocouples
- Testing and maintenance of vacuum points
Mandatory Experience
- Good IT Skills – knowledge of Autoclave management control Systems (AMCS), Aerospace Service Control (ACS) & FGH Control Systems
- Knowledge of Autoclave heat patterns to ensure optimum loading of parts which conform to quality standards
- Knowledge of cure cycle
- SAP knowledge (IW21)
- Electric Truck
- Lifting and Slinging
Tools:
- Knowledge of which systems and methodologies are required
- Problem solving tools (5 whys, Ishikawa, RCCA etc)
- QRQC & QRAP
Communication:
- Capable of communicating clearly and concisely
- Able to escalate at the right time and at the right level
- Capable of making decisions
- A good team player
- Liaise with calibration (Roxspur) and site maintenance department for work to be carried out, working with internal stakeholders to review & revise manufacturing priorities where needed.
Analysis:
- Capacity to analyse a problem and make the right call (aborting cures, thermocouple removal)
- Make the right call of which tool and orientation to achieve to optimum cure
- Ability to recognise defects on tools prior to loading in Autoclave
